Since nearly everything else in their discog is better than this, I'd encourage doing so

i like this album much better than previous ones because it actually sounds different. With every other album it seemed like you could switch tracks and not tell what album you were hearing. But the album with Kurt is also very different, however I don't like it as much since its very corny, honestly boring, I don't like the lack of screams in that album, its mostly clean vocals and the pace of the songs is weird to me.

Holy run-on sentences Batman!

Also, how can you not tell the difference between Death Star and DTBM? They're easily distinguishable, in particular because Kurt's on it and not Jonny

Happiness > Downtown Battle Mountain I/II

Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean II would have been such a better idea imho.

Beg to differ. Happiness is far better. Psychedelic, Progressive and funky, sparkled atop Post-

Hardcore. Easily better in

terms of vocal presentation and instrumentation. Maintains the 'technical' feel they got on

Deathstar, while incorporating a vast array of originality, and even uses subtle influence from

their EP & DBM. Plus, Will's more Hardcore based harsh vocals make an intriguing contrast to the

whole funky feel thats presented from the actual music. And lets not overlook that its the best

album in terms of Bass work.

DBMII is just a rehash of DMB, only Mess sounds substantially better, and Craig sounds substantially

less-soulful.

Listened to this sober and was bored (though far less than I was listening to DBM). Listened to it

high and was more intrigued, but only slightly more. Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex is pretty okay.

This albums is growing on me with every listen, Pounce Bounce, Purple Reign, The Robot With Human Hair Part 2 1/2, and Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex are all pretty fucking rad.

But yeah Happiness is better than this so far. I kinda miss Kurt.

So whats the deal? Does everyone in the band hate Jonny Craig?

honestly, the original DTBM is overrated. I don't find it to be nearly as interesting as the self-titled. Or even this.

"Boring" is the last word I would use to describe this album. I can see where some of the other criticism is coming from, but boring? C'mon now.

this album is far from boring. the album showcases everything fans of this band were looking for: soulful vocals from johnny, hilarious lyrics and awesome screaming from jon, will shredding faces off as always and drum and bass work thats funky, technical and entertaining throughout. On first listen it all sounded like a giant wall of sound that made no sense, but since listening more and actually paying attention to every part, this album begins to make sense. Though happiness had some better songs (nasa, carl barker, tree village), this album is much stronger as a complete work.
