Colton listen to the heatmiser Christian brothers

Or just say something like “Christian brothers is good” and you’ll be fine

"this is the same decent but boring song 12 times lol"

he's already way too far gone for that

He's a huge proponent of The Dullest Man on Earth who started as a Dylan hack then went through a Springsteen fixation just when everyone else was and who outside of a few choice cuts sends me to sleep - so to each their own.

I guess I forgive anyone their folk choices because I'm very picky with what I like in the genre:

Legends: Dylan, Nick Drake, Cohen, Elliott Smith, Sufjan, Will Oldham, Bill Callahan, Justin Vernon, etc

No thank you: Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Damien Rice, Tallest Man, Kishi Bashi, etc

If someone said they'd effectively reverse those selections I'd get it, just not my picks

He went War on Drugs/Springsteen on ‘Dark Bird’ what’s your beef

Also in one small gesture please at least rate this higher than whatever you scored this year’s Lana del Rey

i dig the wild hunt but its a easy pick between the same decent but boring song about gently understated emotional rock bottom vs the same decent but boring song about a reticent and shallow swedish robot wanting to kiss a mountain on the lips

Meh, along with Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith is a man's idea of a "sensible guy". For us girls, his act falls apart in like 5 minutes, his lyrics and vocal execution just screams "fakeness". The album is definitely not bad, there are a couple of genius melodies here and there but unfortunately Elliott is technically incapable of singing them correctly. There's huuuge cover potential here for more talented singers though, like Cass McCombs.

Kishi bashi emanates "500 days with her" cuck vibes. I still really like his music. Can't hate the guy.
