I just need to hear Up and Around The Sun and I will officially have finished my R.E.M. discography, not keeping my hopes up though even if Reveal was the only album I didn't care for at all.

Yeah I'm making my way through the discog as well, was either gonna listen to this or Life's Rich Pageant next, decided to go with the harder listen.

Life's Rich Pageant is excellent dude you'll love it. One of my favorite R.E.M. openers right there.

Jammed this a few times now, enjoyable if not great. Daysleeper is amazing though.

Yeah man but I need to listen a few more times for it to click, i'd put it with Reckoning at the bottom of the IRS albums at the moment. Murmur, Fables, Document > Reckoning/LRP

Document is probably my least favorite but even that one rules hard. Life's Rich Pageant is one of their best imo.

One of the only 5s I've awarded. This album hits me hard, and always has. Wish other people could feel it.

If this had been a little more focused and less bloated, it could have been a pretty solid album. Now it's just a lot of muck with some great tracks/ideas spread throughout.

Oh and Lotus is awful.

𝐔𝐏 is REM most adventurous album from the 90s. It has a couple of the best songs REM wrote in that decade, but also, a lot of most boring and dull and uninspired ones.

Lucky for me, because the album came out at a time when cassettes were still being copied and my up version ended with "π˜‹π˜’π˜Ίπ˜΄π˜π˜¦π˜¦π˜±π˜¦π˜³" and that's why it sounded more cohesive to me than it really is.

Side B on the same tape was Pearl Jam's 𝗬𝗢𝗲𝗹𝗱. It was one of my favorite cassettes. Good times.

I love "Hope", "At my most beautiful", "Falls to climb", "Sad professor" and "Walk unafraid". The album's biggest weakness is that its first few songs are mediocre at best. Still, it's their last truly great effort imho.

airportman is an ez highlight off this for me. perfect opener for this album those waves of synths are absolutely gorgeous. definitely agree in regards to lotus tho that song is pretty wack and doesnt fit at all here. insta skip

this is prob the last album w any 5/5 r.e.m. songs for me (most notably daysleeper and diminished) but i think accelerate stands with it and beats it out from a consistency standpoint
