@martinez: definitely check it out. This album sounds more like their debut than the fiancee and Wars.

The City is the best The Chariot song. That is the truth. Also it's like the 789th best song of all time. "Take on Me" is 788.

I have to say Josh leaving Norma Jean was the best thing that ever happened to me, because there was just Norma Jean and then we were given the gift of The Chariot.

I really disagree with the bashing of The Chariot's discography before Long Live. I used to not really care for Hardcore/Metalcore, until I heard They Faced Each other off of The Fiancee, so I bought the album (then later stumbled onto Norma Jean). I was drawn into the power of the vocals and the heavy, yet twangy southern rock guitar riffs and the chops of Jake Ryan.

The funny thing about this review is, The Chariot have always pushed the boundaries of any typical song structure; and not since The Unsung EP, have they been mediocre or "like the rest." Josh's vocal are unmatched (one of very few vocals that can constantly scream through every song and keep me interested), music is always interesting with stop and go timing, syncopation and great tones. They have always sounded raw, dirty and powerful, never over produced...though Long Live has taken that a notch higher.

Honestly, this album isn't that much different then Wars and Rumors of Wars where people who hated them before now like the new album...reading these posts makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills!!

All in all, great band that has and continues to produce exciting and inspirational chaos.

(new Norma Jean album, Meridional, is their best work, by the way).

First off, welcome to the site. Second, this is pretty different than Wars. It's much more sprawled out and varied, though I, like you, enjoyed their past work a lot.
