^It wasn't my favorite at first, but saw them open with it and it was chilling.

Missing the chance to ever see them live fills me with such longing and despair that I can't even describe it... it's like... listening to any Agalloch song.

Listening to it again and just noticing how much I've grown to love Ghosts of Midwinter Fires. Everything about that song is amazing.

You mean least favorite of all the tracks? Like, even including They Escaped the Weight Of Darkness?

Oh I wasn't counting that one lol

Least favourite of the actual songs I guess

Actually maybe it's tied with Watcher's Monolith idk

Ah okay, then I see where you're coming from ... it's certainly the least striking full song along with Watcher's Monolith. But like I said, it slowly creeped up there without me really noticing it. Maybe I'm in the right mood hahah. I just think the specific guitar tone of the album really comes to fruition with the song's melodies, and it also has some amazing build-ups. Maybe the quarter note drums near the end are a bit sloppy at that point of the song, but that's the only thing that comes to my mind that I don't love about it.

That said, Into the Painted Grey is still my favorite on here. Shows how underrated this is in my mind

Black Lake Niðstång admittedly has the best part of the album

I hated Black Lake so much when this came out! I was getting my body ready for a new 18 minute Agalloch epic and after I was like what did I just listen to... I was so mad but I was young. Pretty much everything I used to find boring as fuck about this album has grown on me big time.

I was going to question the 'young' thing before realising this is actually over 6 years old.

yeah it's kind of crazy, 6 years ago I was a different person and my life was unrecognizable. yet in some ways it still feels like yesterday. Oh Agalloch, you timeless masters of melancholy, how do you do it...

I didn't say which part I meant because I assumed it was obvious. It's soul-wrenching, and the way it kicks in is just woahh

Black Lake is the best song ever but Into the Painted Grey is even better.
