I never really liked Lord Worm's vocals much even before this album.

This album is pretty meh but I thought it was better than And Then You'll Beg. Lord Worm's vocals on this are abosolutely horrific. And where's that bloody 1 minute scream?

And Then You'll Beg was quite terrible. This album might've been pretty good, had Worm's voice not been as bad as it was. Flo's the only aspect of this album that didn't let me down.

Flo should just make a new band and then the rest of the band can become a metalcore band.

I didn't think that the production was bad as such, but rather too clean, a sound that did not suit Cryptopsy's style. That said, this release was a very poor showcasing of Cryptopsy's style. This is a good review. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person disappointed(sp) with this shitty, formulaic brutal death metal album.

This album was very different and unexpected.

It's got some great parts I think, but some parts just left me thinking, "How'd they leave that in there?"

Yes, this had some goos parts, but overall I'm wondering what the hell they were thinking. The production perhaps wasn't too bad, but it definitely didn't work with the sound Cryptopsy was going for.

I've only heard the two tracks they released (carrionshrine, and the pestillence that waleth in darkness). Pestillence was very weak. Lord Worm's talk vocals were annoying as fuck, and I didn't like it when he pronounced the lyrics. Carrionshrine seemed pretty cool though.

I actually fell asleep to this album

Funny story, since I have my Ipod on repeat, I fell asleep to a song on this album, I forget which one, and I never turned it off, so the ipod kept cycling through Cryptopsy songs and I woke up to Benedictine Convulsions

It was amazing, waking up to None So Vile is the best thing ever

I've heard Adeste Infidelis and it is quite the ownage. I actually like Lord Worm's more raspy growl. And it goes without saying; Flo is a madman.

The art on the cover is killer, too.

Neurotoxin put this up on his mailing list. I'll download to see how bad it is.

If you look at this album compared to other death metal albums, I think its really quite good.. Lord Worm's vocals are okay sometimes. Some of his screams are terrible though, sometimes I'm not sure if he's really trying to scream or just making noise like on some parts of None So Vile.

The production adds something to the music, although I think the drums totally overpower everything (not always bad).

Is it a concept album?? On the lyric sheet it says "Album concept by Flo". It seems pretty unlikely though, seeing as Worm did the lyrics. This Message Edited On 10.30.05

No, it's not a concept album, to my knowledge. In comparison to othr death metal I still think this is damn terrible. Lord Worm is a joke now. This Message Edited On 10.30.05

this album really isnt that bad if you let it grow on you. Though I do agree, Lord Worm's vocals SUCK! I can actually enjoy the rest of the music even though the production is shoddy, it just adds to the chaos and intensity. It might not be their best work, but its pretty damn good if you give it a chance.

Ah, come on. Worm has his moments, in Carrionshine he is sweet IMO. If you're not listening for the old Lord Worm, he's not terrible most of the time.

I wasn't listening for old Worm. I wasn't listening for anything. I had no idea what to expect, so I went into this staying open to anything they had to offer. I didn't care if it was different. What I cared about was that I dislike this stuff no matter what I compared it to. The music and the vocals were both awful on any scale (to me at least). If I had been comparing this to old Cryptopsy it would've been much lower than a 2.

am I the only one out here who liked it? I guess too many people were waiting for none so vile part II....

And in case you didn't know, Jon Levasseur wrote all of the song apart from the end and pestilence.
