This is certainly more consistently good than Holy Vacants but a) this is an EP so that task is easier and b) unfortunately Burning Mirror exists
doesn't mean this is better overall

This and Astral Pariah are my two favorite things this band has done

With such unfathomable amounts of music constantly dripping from the maw of the content farm it’s unreasonable to expect you’ll keep abreast of everything, but damn — I really slept on this huh

Ayup, I did too somehow, despite this band being nonstop talked about on here in the years when I was most active

very rare example of sputnik rallying round the right bona fide ham band
"What happened to Iluvatar? Lmao dude was the biggest Trophy Scars fanboy."
badmouthed *someone* (your guess is as good as mine) for being a shit reviewer behind closed doors, got busted and promptly kicked for it

^ genuinely dumb and petty if true. He was a staple of the site, really solid taste and reviews

don't know the specifics of what went down then, but the mods nixing his (excellent) Fetch the Bolt Cutters comeback review months after it had been the only thread for maybe the most significant discourse record of the year was one of the most unsolicited bouts of pettiness I've seen on this site for sure
the shitwash pizzamachine rev we have in its stead is a just punishment

That's a shame. I am not gonna lie, Iluvatar's reviews of this and Never Born, Never Dead legitimately changed my life for a few years by making me check this band out and befriending a group of people on a whim because I happened to see a trophy scars tattoo in the wild.
My music taste has changed a lot of the years, but other than Coheed and Kanye (lol) I think Trophy Scars have remained the biggest constant. Darkness and NBND are bonafide classics and there aren't enough good things to say about them

Alphabets will always be a favorite of mine but this is probably their most transcendental release. The closer here is such a beaut
