This album is a grower. I left the album for a few months and came back to it, and it hit me like a brick. Where their other albums I liked instantly, this one just had to sink in. Crowded Road is the shit.

Shit, can't believe they tune to Drop G. I have some .13s on one guitar, so I imagine I'll hook up my HM-2 to my Tiny Terror and give it a try. Album still rules.

does anyone agree if i said this is kylesa emphasizing their influence of stoner/psychedelic rock and reducing the amount of doom influence?

well, sludge is supposed to be a fusion of doom/hardcore/stoner. and i thought i heard the one or two doomy riff in static

tensions.. thats why i said that. but yeah basically you are right. kylesa probably never had that much doom influence as

sludge bands like crowbar e.g.

Holding out hope that the new stuff won't be terrible but Phil straight up sounds like a muppet now.

^ silentpotato, I finally agree with you. Baroness, Mastodon, and this have really lightened up and forsaken (ahem) the cool song structures and massive riffs for poppy accessible stuff. at least we still have Intronaut, the Ocean, Gojira, and a few other notable proggers sticking to their heavy guns.

Yeah, torche is safe since they never pretended they weren't poppy

this is always a fun listen. The double drumkit thing sometimes comes off as irrelevant, but other times they nail it. Some cool riffs and ideas too.
