Man I feel like I missed the boat on this one. I love Static Tensions, but this album just isn't that exciting to me. Songs like "Don't Look Back" sound like Kylesa covering something off Hybrid Theory...or maybe I'm just another elitist Sputniker who hates anything that sounds mainstream = But as a whole, Spiral Shadow just doesn't have the oomph of their previous releases. It's not all bad by any means; I love Spiral Shadow and Tired Climb. Just seems very uneven overall.
But hey, at least I can plug it into the car stereo as a stepping stone to get people interested in Kylesa.

there are some genuinely awesome moments on here, and for the most part this is an enjoyable record.

not just the chorus melody (which does bug the crap out of me) but also the main guitar riff -- sounds like something Creed would've released a decade ago.

I am listening to this record for the first time. As a lover of all of their albums, I am going to really have to sink this one. Tired Climb is one killer opener just as Scapegoat was for Static Tension.

Another thing I must add to is that the guitar tone is really thick and sexy. Production-wise, they keep getting better.
