some of those users have even been staff ;)

can't tell with Wikipedia since anyone can edit those, but Sputnik reviews were on Metacritic at least as far back as 2007 since that's when i noticed them. adam downer's day & age review is actually what convinced me to make an account

I think it kind of aged poorly, compared to other big albums of the time. Still good though

Feel Good Lost was the one that really grew on me with time, oddly enough

This is an album that I feel drops off in the second half but I also have to admit that I'm way more familiar with the first half because of how early I decided that it drops off.

I think this is the first album I remember buying at a store, too

I'd say first 2/3 rather than first half as tracks 1-8 do indeed contain most of the best stuff, and yet the last third has "Lover's Spit" which is maybe my favorite so it's hard to say.

I have to admit that I actually tend to stop with "pacific theme" even though I know "anthems" is legendary and "cause = time" is a strong jam

but I really have to listen again. also "stars and sons" is weak relative to those other ones too

Pretty good album with some excellent moments... But yeah, nothing more than "pretty good" in general.

this is kind of incomprehensible to me, lol. Anthems through Pitter Patter is one of my favourite runs in music (Late Nineties is admittedly weaker than the rest there, but how you gonna ignore all those other tracks)

conversely, first four tracks on this tend to blur together for me

They flow together in a good way for me, they’re an excellent intro to the more meaty tunes in the middle third. Whole album flows really well tbh.

Been spinning their debut this week and gotta say that seems kinda underrated/overlooked relative to this. Probably just because it’s (mostly) instrumental but there a lot of beautiful stuff there nonetheless.
