Nah Malleus Maleficarum is my favourite album of all times, with maybe one or two rivals (Mount Eerie - Live In Copenhagen and Kayo Dot - Blue Lambency Downward).

That said, I firmly belief all of the first four Pestilence albums are unfuckwithable 5/5s

Pestilence is way better than Asphyx yeah.


Anyway I don't know exact reasons but I think it was a mix of Van Drunen not liking the progressive direction the band was heading in, and the band wasn't happy with his alcoholism

yeah i didn't like the direction they headed either, i'd probably be an alcoholic if my band was like "yeah so fuck our good shit, let's just wank for 30 min and call it a day"

They didn't do that at all though.

Testimony and Spheres are both 5/5 albums (the only problem with Testimony is the dumb interludes)
