I hate that record so much you have no idea.

But i still love Stormblast. I actually found an original copy in my record store last time, it was awesome.

If you are gonna listen to Dimmu Borgir and hope to find black metal then good fucking luck. The closest thing this album comes to black metal is the intro to Ritualist....thats pretty much it.They havent been black since......Puritanical? Anyways, I haven't listened to this in months and in that time I have come to see how one dimensional this album can be.

I don't think you could call them anything else. People say symphonic extreme metal, which I think is stupid.

cradle of filth is symphonic extreme metal

i think they're worlds apart from dimmu, who are at least still black metal

still mediocre as all hell imo, but black metal.

or at the very least, they're further along the black metal spectrum than cradle

The album is not bad but it's not good either. Harmless and uninspiring. Mediocre stuff. There are three songs I like to listen, Gateways, Dimmu Borgir and Endings and Continuations.

The reason I say this isn sbm is bc like oath said, Emperor is sbm and DB is nothing like that

Emperor is barely symphonic. Dimmu's first three albums easily fit a symphonic black metal tag. Now, I just call their stuff gay.

To say Emperor *isnt* symphonic anymore is a valid statement but to say they are barely symphonic is exaggerated obviously bc of ITNE and yes DB's early shit is most definitely sbm

ItNE isn't that symphonic. Occasional "ahh" choir and synth stuff barely merits a moniker of "symphonic".
