This review is ridiculously (and uncharacteristically, at that) pretentious and elitist---the fourth paragraph in particular.
Either way, I never understood the hype about this album either, maybe because I was three when it released. I don't really hear any particular unity among the songs, and it seems as though people praise it out of some sort of elitist obligation. Then again, maybe my musical taste isn't mature enough (about which I could not give less of a fuck).
With all that said, as usual, nice review.

Or it simply could be that you do not enjoy it? I wouldn't listen to the music I do now if not for kickstart bands like radiohead. why do people think that defending or liking a popular or unique band means they are being elitist? Perhaps they just enjoy the music whereas some do not

Did you bother to read the paragraph I referenced? I'm not accusing you of anything, so there's no need to get defensive.
I love reading his reviews, and here's honest feedback: "it only gives itself to you if it finds you worthy" is an extremely elitist line, in that implies that someone who doesn't enjoy it has inferior taste which isn't "worthy" enough to appreciate the album.
Jared nearly always avoids sounding like this, so it just caught my eye when I saw that.
Goddamn...

It's impossible not to be a bit (just a bit) pretentious about this album. Ok Computer is an undeniable mark of the evolution of music on the XX century.

This review is fucking awful. Musicians aren't revolutionaries, and it doesn't require trust of any kind to enjoy new music. The entire thing is full of glaring assumptions about other people; how do you know what other people's hopes entail? Are all fans of Radiohead part of some collective consciousness? And what about the people whose subjective view of the album is that it is shit, or dare I say it, just an album; are they excluded from the generation flying under its banner? The cod philosophy thrown around on this site is fucking ridiculous, and treats music like its sacred.
What he said ^
