This album owns my soul in some sort of way. It's just a near perfect rock n roll album. From the first track to the last, it is incredibly listenable and infectious, and just about every cut is as good as the next in some way. Stand outs for me are Wonderwall, Don't Look Back Back In Anger, and my favorite Oasis song ever, Cast No Shadow. And a few other cuts come close. Champagne Supernova is such a great sounding record it just knocks me out. Can't really say enough about this album. This Message Edited On 04.23.06

Also to address the Liam was a terrible singer... sorry I mean he is a terrible singer... since when was Rock n Roll about singing? Could John Lennon sing? well better than Liam yes, but he was pretty bad too! Could Hendrix sing? not very well... Clapton? no! They all great musicians not singers! Also Liam's snarling style is appealing to some people!
John Lennon was an amazing singer. Early Beatles work proves this.
Hendrix is a decent enough singer but even so, no one listens to Hendrix for the vocals anyway.
Clapton's career blows after Cream as far as I'm concerned. None of this changes my opinion of Liam having an unbelievably annoying voice so I don't see what you're trying to get at.

The best songs on the CD are supernova and Wonderwall, but both excellent songs that I think are deffinatley classics. This is oasis's best CD.

The truth is, you could've made me listen to any song off this album without telling me who they are or what their influences are, and I could've told you they were a Beatles rip-off. Hell, they stole a line from Lennon in "Don't Look Back In Anger" ("So I start a revolution form my bed")! Most everyone I know thinks that song is "Imagine" when they first hear it, and then are sorely disappointed to find out it's this band. Give me a break.
geez, what a jackass. grow up dude.

One of the classic albums of the 90's, and I absolutely love it.
Great review mate.

"Oasis combined the rough image of the Rolling Stones with Beatles melodies and lyrics similar to the Kinks. Then they have the loud guitar sound that draws from the Sex Pistols rebellion and the Stones arrogance."
It's like a rock 'n' roll ham-burger.

They never even came close to topping this. One of the first albums I bought, so maybe nostalgia plays a part in my opinion, but meh, I still listen to this years later

This album is catchy enough, and they certainly know how to build a song, but the lyrics are pedestrian at best, and just awful at worst (the Champagne Supernova classic, "slowly walking down the hall/faster than a cannonball").

Don't Look Back In Anger kind of sounds like Let It Be during the intro. Fucking amazing song though. Haven't gotten into this completely yet. I';m basically just playing the shit out of Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova.

On certain days, I can be obsessed with a band just by listening to a few songs
over & over (most recently my obsession with Iron Maiden, fueled by listening to
Number Of The Beast, the song, for 8 hours straight) Oasis became one of first of
those cases. I first heard a lot about this band, saying how good they are, but I
didn't buy any albums because I considered them a bit too "poppy" for the "rock"
music coming out of the UK radio's. However my view on them changed
completely when I found out that 3 of their songs were gonna be Rock Band DLC,
Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall & Live Forever, with me being a Compulsive
Music Video Games Addict decided to check them out on Youtube. I liked what I
heard, banishing the poppy claim, because it was "pure rock". I then the next day
bought Morning Glory, & to be honest... I was amazed. I had heard all the hype
surrounding this album's legendary status. It's all true, this album lives up to
every word. All the songs are worth listening to over & over. DLBIA, Wonderwall,
Some Might Say & Champagne Supernova are gold. Champagne Supernova is the
best song that has Liam on vocals, because the "whine" that is usually in his voice
when singing is not there & it's all clear, hich is brillaint.
One of the best albums to ever come out of the UK, if you like just Rock or good
British Music, buy this, I promise you, you won't be disappointed. 5/5This Message Edited On 03.18.08

Most people seem to like Champagne supernovs the most, but I think wonderwall is the best here.

Great, solid, straightforward rock. I especially go back to this for "Some Might Say," "She's Electric," and "Morning Glory."
