Chapel Hill was quite a fruitful place for indie rock during the early ‘90s with the likes of Polvo, Archers of Loaf and Superchunk all emerging around the same time.

i referred to 'icky mettle' as an alternative album in the next sentence because i suspect most of the readers on this site won't be doing so with the perspective of having been an archers of loaf fan in the early 90s and recognizing 'indie rock' as the huge umbrella term it encompasses with loads of bands today, which would've been really vague. when i say indie rock, i just mean independent rock music, not in the sense of genre.

glad you like the record though, from what i've seen elsewhere it seems to be going down well with a lot of people

I'd never heard of this band before I clicked this review. I really like this album though, its like 90's alternative fused with pop-punk. Good review.

I love the fact this doesn't sound new, it sounds like a relic just discovered, like when you discover that band for the first time and you just love what they do.
