That'd be nice, it's about time too

Again, can't agree more. These guys pushed the envelope by progressing deathcore and instead of pursuing that, they just became another prog metal band that seemed more stagnant than progressive.

Kinda ironic in that regard.

The amount of djenty "prog" bands is ridiculous. Every one of them have the same style of artwork too. I make the mistake of listening to cloudkicker and now that's all that inhabits my Spotify recs.

Haha I've suffered similar Spotify catastrophes.

Djent is kinda dying out now tho imo, at least as a genre. It's become more of a secondary aspect of prog.
It's at least not as bad as the huge explosion we had around 2008-12

I didn't even notice a huge influx of djent until Vildjharta-hadn't really heard of it until then when their haters emerged. Mastaaden (or whatever) still rules.

Which is funny b/c Maastaden is one of the best in the genre

Februus conquers all

Well that's my point. This isn't straight deathcore, this is a mix of deathcore with progressive metal tendencies and songwriting. It brings together a new element to add more variety to straight-up, regular deathcore (though I believe deathcore by itself could still go further).
In a way, it's hard to blame bands for their lack of ingenuity in this case when the standard breakdown-ridden, heavy-as-fuck formula is the one that's selling the most. Kinda discourages innovation if a band wants instant gratification and monetary gain.
We're gonna need another band to play visionary and start musing styles together and taking risks.

Februus overrated imo, check Monuments

Never got into Monuments tbh, and I dunno why. Killer guitar tone but that's about it for me.

Aight give Vola a chance

Truuuuue Vola is amazing and one of the most underrated bands of 2015

New album this year maybe maybe
Plus new Vildhjarta most likely, they've been tracking for a while
|
| |
God I hope so for Vola. I also hope they don't change their sound or anything.
Vild and Uneven Structure have both been tracking for a looooong time, I think the momentum for their new releases is long gone imo. Especially since the latest US song is so boring.

Well singles tend to be either good, bad, or just eh. I'd wait to hear more.

uneven structure are pretty close to releasing their new one I think, if their vague fb posts are anything to go by

'imo a bands adherence to the desthcore formula and sound is almos always the limiting factor holding them back from reaching their true potential and it is the groups that foray into other (sub) genres and marginalise their desthcore aspects that end up being of better quality and replaybility.'
In this instance, I don't think the deathcore sound hold them back. The mix of styles here is the highlight. They abandoned that mix for a more straightforward lighter progressive sound that is good, but bland in comparison imo.
