Not sure whether they're meant to be a seasons trilogy. Songs For the Wood is a good winter album too imo.

Ive seen them referred to as a trilogy quite a lot but whether it fits 3 seasons is debatable.
Songs Wood seems lighter and more joyful than the others so feels like spring, Stormwatch is definitely a cold winter type feel and HH is sorta in between. The themes on HH seem autumnal to me, fear of spirits (halloween), themes are melancholy and decay.

I think the main reason they're referred to as a trilogy is that they were all predominantly folk oriented. The lyrics in Songs From the Wood make me think of it as more of a winter album but I see where you're coming from with the spring idea. Heavy Horses does have an autumnal feel I agree.

I love me some Tull but I've never traveled beyond Heavy Horses in their discog. I think I'm just afraid I'm going to hate it.

There isn't too much of a change in terms of style between this and Heavy Horses so you might like this. The biggest difference is that it's darker, lyrically and musically, than the two previous albums.

HH was the last truly classic album tho i think, nothing as good as it after
|

^Agreed. There's still quite a few albums that came after that I enjoy listening to on a regular basis though. This being one of them.

It's great. One of Tull's most underrated albums imo.

I think it's the least great of their folk trilogy but still a very good album.

Yeah both Songs From the Wood and Heavy Horses are better but I still enjoy this album a lot. I wasn't too fond of it at first but it's really grown on me over the years. Dun Ringill and Flying Dutchman are among my favourite Tull songs. Orion, Dark Ages and Elegy are excellent as well.
