It was saddening, the lengths she had gone to

To appear more attractive

In the process losing something

Hits me right in the feels, this has happened to people I know personally :[

'Blood' is the first National song and probably the best here

So the third track. Did they rip off Nick Cave or was it the other way around

Yeah there's defo some 'cave' in there but the band are something else.
Check II for unrivalled brilliance and curtains for orchestral strings of truth.

That guitar melody in Blood is as 90s ALT ROCK as it gets.

They're better than Cave because they have that authentic European art film je ne sai quoi

No Aussie could pull that off without a head transplant and full blood tranfusion

@Doof, their songs do bring to mind just about every great French New Wave film scene ever made..

I have to hold my hands up and admit I've probably not watched many French New Wave films. I tend to usually only watch films with other people present these days and...that limits the sorts of films you watch.

hahaha, makes sense.. but you're spot on in the sense that there is European cinematic sophistication and melancholy to their music that's all their own..

I'm not sure about the French, I mean I like cheese and Chambord and butter. But this is good even if it isn't French
