This is a decent amount better than Vheissu I think. Vheissu has a handful of really bland songs.

i want at least 5 more pages of people talking about which is better: Illusion or Vheissu. don't give reasons just say "IoS is better" or "Vheissu is better"

Vheissu has The Earth Will Shake, For Miles, Hold Fast Hope, Of Dust and Nations and freaking Stand and Feel Your Worth. Illusion doesn't have that many legendary songs. Deadbolt, To Awake And Avenge the Dead... and the rest are just great tracks. Well, except for Living Dance Upon Dead Minds, Where Idols Once Stood and Trust. I find those to be rather bland, forgettable songs. Granted, the rest of the album kicks serious arse.

The Red Death is the best song on this cd. To Awake in a close second. That Hideous Strength (bside) in third. If i see them play the red death before I die I will die happy. Alas those odds are slimming every year. It'd be interesting if they could ever write songs with as much raw energy as this album had ever again.

I really love both Vheissu and IoS. I think IoS is a bit better because Vheissu has got The Music Box which I dislike pretty much.

I saw them play the red death back at the first bamboozle left and even then it caught me by surprise. your chances are... well, there are no chances.

Sick review bro, one thing though, I don't think that Deadbolt has a chorus but the chorus is referenced in your review. Just a minor thing.

Great review, love hearing when people describe what got them into music. I like Thrice but I never could really get into this album save a few songs. I think it's the way the snare drum sounds... it just bores deeper into my skull with every hit.
