I finally got this album today and I can say I love it. They sound similar to Brand New, but not as good in my opinion. And too many of the lines are ironic. It's annoying! But I like most of the songs. Great Romances, Cute Without The E and You're SO Last Summer stand out the most.
those songs stand out becuz they are the ones on the radio.. my personal favorite song on that cd is theres no I in team
it is definatley emo not pop/punk
Maybe if you knew what emo is you would call this pop-punk. Go here www.fourfa.com and download some Hot Cross and some Saetia. That's real emo kiddo.
if you look at the lyrics in the track order, there is a story to the album. it's about a boy and girl breaking up due to cheating (cut without the e) and his strugles to get over it, and what he is like after it's all over (your so last summer and head club.)
oh and it's not a keyboard intro to great romances it's a guitar
heh thats pretty toit. never went into it that deep like that. toit.

Well after listning to this album for a long time let me give a short review.
Awesome Tracks:
There's No I In Team
Ghostman On Third
Timberwolves At New Jersey
You're So Last Summer
Bland Tracks:
Great Romances Of The 21st Century
So to start off, only one weak song on the album and a good amount of fantastic songs.
Positives:
Adam and Johns vocal deleveries really make the album great. The voices contrast well and the use of Johns sister in songs (Ghostman etc) works great. The vocals are a standout point of the album.
The musicianship isn't super technical but it works well. I like the drumming on the album quite alot. There are some nice guitar riffs (Eg the powerchords and melody riff in verses of You're So...).
All the songs have an individual sound to them. They don't get warped into a samey sound for the most part.
Lyrics here are terribly emo which may put some people off but I think they're fantastic with the exception of one thing (check negatives.)
Negatives:
"Best friends means i'll pull the trigger, best friends means you get what you deserve"
"This is what living like this does"
Two examples of the constant vocal pattern on this album. Too many songs use the same formula of using a repeated vocal line for an outro. Now all these lines say great but it doesn't really make for much variety.
So there's my brief review. I can't deny I love this album though. To me it's a 4.5/5 but that is my biased opinion.

Burn.
DFelon were you the one that made a big post about which Glassjaw album I should get in punk forum a while ago? I can't find the thread because my computer is bad but i'm thinking about getting EYWTKAS and wanted to get peoples opinions on it.
(If it wasn't you who made that post i'm going to look like a douche)

Even thogh I like some emo, this cd seemed so mediocre to a lot of the other albums that came out around that time. definitely a 2/5

when i heard great romances of the 20th century i dident like it that much but after i heard cute without the e, I went out and bought the album. when i did i listened to great romances and started to like it, its a great song. over time i realized that every song on the album was excellent. i especially like there's no "I" in team. The drumming works well in that song and the 2 guitars sound really good together. To me that song is the perfect song for them to do. Its kinda the definition of tbs. in my opinion :thumb:

It was probably me. I prefer Worship and Tribute but it's a narrow margin. If you're into awesome songwriting, great moments, profuse screaming, and a more straight forward experience, pick EYEWTKAS. If you want to hear music that's more open, diverse, interesting, and tonally wacked out, get Worship and Tribute.
Take this:
If you like newer Deftones and Dredg more, get Worship and Tribute.
If you like older Deftones and Strung Out more, get EYEWTKAS.
Deal?
