Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends
Reccomended Songs
Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team)
There's No 'I' Team
Timberwolves at New Jersey
You're So Last Summer
You Know How I Do - This track starts with a cool guitar part, and in my opinion, the best vocal delivery from Lazara on the whole album. This song is a good indication of if you will like the album or not, a great way to start an amazing album.
Bike Scene - I think this song is about a relationship (but then again so is like the whole album), its standard Taking Back Sunday stuff.
The female vocals in the bridge add a nice touch to the song.
Cute without the E (Cut from the Team) - I dont live in the states, but Im sure this song was a single. And if it wasnt, it shouldve been. Its easily one of the best tracks on the album. Its very catchy, and in the slower part of the song, the vocals really stand out. I believe the album also gets its name from a lyric in this song.
Theres No I in Team- Starts with a simple but effective guitar part. I think this song is about a fued with a friend/girlfriend, or maybe it has something to do with the supposed rivalry between them and Brand New.. Like a lot of the album, the vocals are quite emotional, and the chanting of "Best friends means I pulled the trigger Best friends means you get what you deserve" adds a good effect to the end of the song.
Great Romances of the 20th Century- The keyboard intro is quite good, and adds a little variety to the album. Apart from this fact, it does little to distinguish itself from the rest of the album
Ghost Man on Third- Another cool intro, another typical Taking Back Sunday song. The soaring vocals are quite impressive, making this another vocal highlight of the album. Also, the female backing vocals make another appearance, adding simple but effective parts to the songs.
Timberwolves at New Jersey- Another highlight of the album. Quite energetic, and at times catchy. Again, the last parts of the songs lyrics are fantastic and bring the song to an excellent end.
The Blue Channel- Another piano intro, and good vocal work by Lazzara. This is also the shortest song on the album. Not much else to say.
Youre So Last Summer- My favourite song on the album, and I believe this was also single. Very catchy, and I think this song is the one that represents Taking Back Sunday best. Also features my favourite lyric on the album "The truth is you could slit my throat, and with my one last gasping breath Id apologise for bleeding on your shirt. I think this song is about a girl that doesnt appreciate the subject of the song.
Head Club- The last track. A bit faster than the other tracks. I’m not too sure what it’s about. It closes the album well, and feels like a closing song.
Overall, this is a great album that manages to fuse elements of both emo and pop-punk together to make something not entirely new, but something great to listen to. However, if you like each song to be something tottaly different, don’t look here. However, if you don’t mind the odd repetition, and are a fan of pop-punk, give this a listen, you might just enjoy it :thumb:
4/5 :thumb:

Meh, I burned it off of a friend, and I'd say it's distinctively average in every way. I like it better than most emo, but that doesn't say alot. so, 2.5/5
| | | I don't really think they're pop-punk.. But that's not the point
Good review, I only liked a few songs off the cd. It was average. :thumb:

 never gets old.
| | | There's No I in Team kicks ***..the rest of this album is..mehr..i dled..because i don't respect them :-D

That is a great line.
| | | Great review, one of my favorite cds. Every song is great. When I first got into them, most of the songs sounded the same, but I later fell in love with every song that was on the cd. It is true that their songs aren't very hard to play, but they manage to come together as a whole to create a great cd.

That line is so terribly emo, I want to scream at the CD Player to cheer up.
Meh, the band's alright, the writing's not my type of thing.
| | | I disagree about Cute Without the E. I really dislike that song but Timberwolves and YSLS are two incredible tracks. It's nothing stand-out from the genre but it sounds **** good and it was a good quick review.
| | | badass review, badass band, badass cd/songs, what more could i say. oh, except that it sucks that their guitarist and bassist left for stray light run, but there cool too
| | | Album Rating: 2.5
Taking Back Sunday are terrible writers. The problem lies mainly in that they write trite livejournal crap but the really annoying thing that gets to me is they just repeat everything. They use the image "staring down the barrel of a gun" on three different songs on this CD. I mean, I could imagine if it was a concept album that revolves around the moment you're about to get shot in the head, but no, it's all about breakups and is certainly not a concept album.
| | | ^^^I can see your point, however i tend to like their writing style anyway. it's very unique. i know a lot of ya'll hate emo or whatever, but i think taking back sunday is a great band. i hope to hear more from them in the future, that is if they haven't completely disbanded by now. ok review, great album, 'cute without the 'e'' is my favorite, but they're all quality songs.

Actually I love emo with a passion.
| | | this album, to me, is average. 2.5/5 or a 3/5. i liked it a lot when it first came out, but then i kinda got away from emo. now, the only emo i listen to on a daily basis is weezer and alkaline trio. but back to tbs. the lyrics are alright, that one line that was mentioned before is emo gold, but it doesn't too all that much for me. same with the music. this is one of those cds i'll whip out every once in awhile just to listen to something that i havent heard in a long time. personally, i like straylight run more than tbs.
| | | Amen on the SLR. I hope they finish doing everything on the album sometime soon.
That "The truth is you could slit my throat and with my one last gasping breath, I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt" line never gets old, as wheelz put it. TBS is coming out with a new cd in July sometime. As for this album, it's pretty decent. They should have kept the "Beautiful Girls" dialogue in the beginning of "Greatest Romances of the 20th Century" though. This is a pretty average album, though. Simple chord progressions and average lyrics... Adam's voice is interesting enough to keep him from sounding like everyone else but a lot of people can't stand his voice.
Ah well. 3/5 from me.
| | | ah...taking back sunday is great!
| | | if you look at the lyrics in the track order, there is a story to the album. it's about a boy and girl breaking up due to cheating (cut without the e) and his strugles to get over it, and what he is like after it's all over (your so last summer and head club.)
oh and it's not a keyboard intro to great romances it's a guitar
| | | the cd is pretty good.... "this is me with the words on the tip of my tongue with my eye threw the scope down the barrel of a gun" has pretty good lyrics could be better though but it was worth the money
| | | it is definatley emo not pop/punk
| | |
I finally got this album today and I can say I love it. They sound similar to Brand New, but not as good in my opinion. And too many of the lines are ironic. It's annoying! But I like most of the songs. Great Romances, Cute Without The E and You're SO Last Summer stand out the most.
Can't wait for the new album either!
it sounds like brand new because basiclly brand new is taking back sunday, members in both bands were in one same band at one time, i know adam played bass for brand new, and john played guitar in a band with jessie before brand new.
| | | i heard that their new stuff sux is that true or is it like the old stuff on tell your friends?
