I gotta say it was one of my least favorites at first but I've been really digging it lately

this album makes me want to check out the following: the shins, the strokes, sparklehorse's other material, blue velvet(david lynch film), and vic chesnutt.

You should watch Mulholland Drive too. Movie is awesome if a bit confusing.

How is Eraserhead? Is it worth checking out?

K. Well it's really fucking difficult to find any Lynch movies around these parts so I'll keep trying to locate it then. Also I heard that The Elephant Man or whatever it's called is really good too.

Also didn't know that Lynch did music. That makes him one of the most important artists of our time :P

I'm really confused. I swear I've had this album for at least 5 months. Why does it say it was released just last month???

can someone explain this album to me:

is it sparklehorse tunes put to new vocal parts from the cont. artists, which is mixed by dangermouse? it is excellent but it's really been puzzling me.

I don't know the process but this is what I imagine. Sparklehorse writing the bulk of the tunes, potential input from danger mouse, danger mouse handles production and some of the electronics on the album, potentially collaborating on that aspect as well with sparklehorse. the features write their own vocal parts and loosely help in the writing of the song.

All these tracks are written for this album, and all of them were collaborative efforts. Apart form Daddy's Gone, the liner notes all credit Linkous, Danger Mouse and whoever is guesting as a songwriter. The arrangements are mostly Linkous and DM though. The idea is that this is supposed to be a quasi-art project, rather than just another CD. The box set, anyway.

Agreed. But I don't have enough money to even consider buying the box set.

right, so linkous wrote the bulk of this before he died? seems to make sense. unbelievably powerful album, regardless of it's conception.
