i bought this cd because i heard minerva and loved it. it was pretty mellow but still kick a$$. i had also heard a few other deftones songs so i felt i had heard enough to buy it. i was and still am very dissapointed. i think its the vocals. chino uses the same effect on his voice every song. it gets annoying. there is nothing special about the guitar either. ihes just bangin out a few distorted powerchords. there is no depth to it. i get bored with it.

Deftones is the only mainstream metal/nu-metal band I like.

Yeah, I don't think they can accuratly be classified as nu-metal. Mainstream, yes though.

deftones are def. one of my top bands and since i love Nu-Metal this band sounds even sweeter. it's got the nice melody in the song Minerva, and if u've seen the video for that, teh setting totally fits the song.

The video is very nice, it's the reason everytime I hear the song i picture a rising sun. Great emotion into it.
in a word. yes.

Ok, White Pony was their experimental album, and its still ok, but the only REALLY decent tracks on there are; feiticeira, knife party, korea, passenger, change, pink maggit.

all other albums are consistant in having all great tracks.

the best thing about White Pony is that what they did here easily shows their progression into 'Deftones'
add rx queen and teenager and you have the best tracks on there. Do you realise [/flaming lips] that with all those tracks combined, you have the whole album, barring 3 songs. :D

Yeah, the only reason I didn't say that was because I thought he'd already said it.

This album is good but not 5/5. A 4/5 will be better .
Good review.

Stand Out Track - When Girls Telephone Boys. Plain and simply awesome. Bloody Cape and Battle-Axe are 2 of my other favourites just because of the sheer aggression they enforce.

Similar to the question "why isnt boys' republic on white pony"; "why isn't Lovers on this?" If you haven't heard Lovers, get a copy of the hexagram single, because this track is worth it. It's only bettered by When Girls Telephone Boys. And maybe Deathblow.

(Why the hell did they do "lucky you"? that song is the worst deftones song ever. except maybe birthmark, but thats way way back)

If Adrenaline is the worst album then i'd love to hear the rest of the albums.
I've got Deftones though and When Girls Telephone Boys is my favourite.
I've been trying to think of a similar band but they're so unique that i dont know! Any suggestions?

I can’t believe some of the comments some people are making on here…..esp about the comment someone made saying that ‘birthmark’ is the worst Deftones song ever.

I’m a huge Deftones fan, probably my favourite band if I had to really narrow it down. I actually consider this album to be my least fav Deftones album. I just wasn’t a big fan of the dropped tuning of the guitars. I also didn’t like how the songs were so simple, i.e. only 3 or 4 riffs per song. As a massive fan of Stephen, I was most disappointed with him on this album, although I still really enjoy listening to it. I just feel that they could have done better, maybe rushed it a little bit.

I believe Around the Fur is EASILY their best album, Adrenaline second, White Pony third, and then Deftones. Not many people seem to like Adrenaline all that much, I’m not sure, I think it’s awesome.

Album Rating: 3.5

I didn't think this was there best work, I preffered White Pony over it. But still damn good, a 4/5 in my opinion. My favourite song is "Bloody Cape", I love the bludgeoning guitar and the screaming at the end. This Message Edited On 07.15.05
