Can't fucking wait!
It's awesome that he's remixing the Chateau tapes as well.

Aw dude shiiiiiit, amazing producer gotta say.
|
| |
Gonna be the best remix/reissue ever.
|
| |
Pleb, have you heard the Chateau tapes (released as the main part of the Night Cap comp)?
I played some of it in plug one time and you said it was awesome but dunno if you've heard any more of it other than that.
|
| |
Na man, I never jammed it! Does it rule hard?
|
| |
Yeah it does but I have a feeling the version that comes with the remix for this will rule even harder.
It's basically a whole album (although not completely finished) that they made prior to this but Anderson wasn't happy with the results so they scrapped it. A lot of the same ideas ended up on here but it's still well worth hearing. I can't wait to here what the new Wilson mix of it is like with it's revised track list and what I'm assuming is some previously unheard parts (judging by the track list on the link I posted).

So the special edition Wilson remix of this arrived in the post today. Jamming it now and it sounds amazing and just heard a completely new verse that I've never heard before omg.

Really impressed by how much Wilson has put into the re-release of this, even restoring a bit of old (physically) cut out tape back to its original place in the album and I'm particularly impressed with what he's done with the Chateau tapes and how much research he put into that.

trying to find it on streaming for a quick listen, is it the one that has 'chateau hherouville sessions' added on to the title ?
|
| |
Great album.
|
| |
It's called A Passion Play: An Extended Performance. I don't know if it has "chateau hherouville sessions" in the title, the physical copy doesn't. Would make sense though as those sessions are included so it probably is the right one.

Need to hear the SW mix.

hows it sound jamie
|

It sounds really good. Barrie's drums sound so much better and there's more space for all the different instruments to breathe whereas before the combination of sax, guitar, keyboards etc. (when all being played together) sounded a bit too dense at times.
I'm more impressed with what he's done with the Chateau sessions though to be honest, probably because the production on the Night Cap version was so shitty (to be expected from something that was unfinished). He's removed a lot of the flute parts which dominated too much of the instrumentation as result of some of the other instrument's parts not being finished. Now it sounds like a proper album, one that would be on a par with this if it didn't tail off towards the end (which is noticeable now with the original running order restored, although that does benefit the first half greatly).

Wilson strikes gold again? Awesome.

only heard a 320mp3 so far but as jt said yes it does sound more spaced out, wider soundstage definitely even noticeable on a 320
|

Yes Pleb, this is the best reissue he's ever been involved with in terms of the amount of research he's put into getting everything absolutely right such as restoring old deleted parts to their originally intended position.
Also Pleb you have to hear the Chateau tapes and this is probably the best way to hear them as they sound so much better than the Night Cap version.

Show me the gypsy, the chain's weakest link
and I'll throw him a fiver to buy all he can drink
'Till he's down on his knees, his luck and his heels
Let me pass you the bottle, see how it feels
