I'm actually liking this album, not as good as their last, but its still post hardcore I can listen to... the singer sounds different though.

Interesting review & subsequent discussion.
I didn't mind Blessthefall's 'Witness' (which is compared here), mainly because it sort of had a decently sized fun & catchy element. Does that exist here, or do this band take themselves too seriously?

I don't find this album particularly catchy at all daveyboy.... The atmosphere feels pretty serious when im listening too (or at least they try to be.) I prefer this to "witness" though.

"Heavy Lies The Crown" Is my jam.
Anyone else notice how the cleans in "Let It Out" sound suspiciously similar to that of Jesse Lacey. Or is it just me?

I agree with BreakdownsXplease. There's some catchy melodies here and there, but like I said in the review those sections of the songs are ruined by the vocals, in my opinion. The band's not really going for a fun thing either.

I really just can't make my mind up about this album. It certainly isn't a patch on their debut. Album has quite a murky sound and I don't like it particularly.

I like it. while its def a step down from the debut, I find the vocals are more varied and overall more powerful.

I totally agree with pmmets07. Though I have only listened to the whole album a couple of times, well maybe even just once all the way through, I did notice the quality and mix was a lot better then YWOF. The album has a couple promising songs, and you can tell that they tried to improve in every way, the screams are more darker, and the vocals are absolutely awesome. This is just my thoughts on it, but one thing for sure that shouldn't even be a discussion, is the improvement of the mixing of the cd.

While they played i hit one of them in the face with a ball, and they finished the song and then pointed me out and threatened to slit my throat. They are grade a toolbags with nothing more than an overground music taste. when i went to talk to them about it, they were almost afraid, and acted like rockstars.
So in other words, you didn't like how they sounded, so you hit one of them in the face while they were performing... yet somehow, crazily enough... they didn't like you? Then when you (the person who apparently doesn't like their music, and disrupted them while they were playing) went to talk to them, they didn't want to talk to you? It's ridiculous right? Most bands would love to hang with a gentleman like yourself, not liking their music and hurling things at their faces as they play.
A teensy, tiny part of me really hopes someone goes to where you work and puts a boot in your face. Not me though, I'm too much of a sweetheart.
Oh, and a pretty good review. I sort of liked their other release and what I've heard of this one wasn't exactly horrible, but to each their own. ;) I like when people write up good reviews of albums they don't really like. Helps keep every album from being 4's and 5's.

I don't believe they are in debt I believe the last album and the e.p they had was just hard to live up two. Counselor and bones is a great song off imperial. Listen to it more I'm positive it'll grow on you.
Check out casino Madrid and jamie's elsewhere

Honestly, if you don't like a band or a genre, don't review it. It's not about respecting opinions like you brought up, if you review a band/genre you don't like your review will be bias and make the album out to be worse than it is and gives readers the wrong of idea of it. Although the album wasn't amazing it was definitely better than a 1.5.

if you review a band/genre you don't like your review will be bias
I just don't understand these comments - I've repeatedly said I enjoy the genre. As far as the band goes, you like or dislike a band based on the music they make, correct? This album was bad for me, so I don't particularily like the band. Saying you shouldn't review an album just because the band has given you a bad experience in the past is ridiculous and shortsighted. How exactly is anybody supposed to review the next Brokencyde album, according to your thinking? Only the fans? No. Way. Of course I didn't go into this album expecting it to be bad, if that was what you meant - I gave it a fair chance.
It's not about respecting opinions like you brought up . . . Your review will be bias and make the album out to be worse than it is . . . Although the album wasn't amazing it was definitely better than a 1.5.
Well, okay, are you saying I shouldn't respect the fact that you think that it's better than a 1.5? Also, there is no one who universally decides whether an album is good or bad.
I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but if you're going to attack me, I might as well explain myself.

Bones was my favourite when it went up on the myspace, having listened to the album it's still the best one for me . . . which isn't a good thing necessarily. Will have to listen to it a few times to see how I feel about it but I'm not expecting it to get much better

the more serious approach has certainly not paid off, album has a couple of good songs but is largely forgettable.
|
| |
I wouldn't say that. While I'll agree some of the tracks are forgettable, I think the majority is enjoyable post-hardcore
|
| |
I agree with the synth parts, they don't fit. I liked YWOF a lot, this isn't the same, and it's certainly not better. It's just okay.

This albulm is great.
Now of course this albulm is a little different than the other albulms, to a slight degree. But so is every albulm. This albulm is a little more melodic but the vocals are still great and each song has it's moments. Definitly one of the best albulms I've ever bought.
To the guy that reviewed this.. Do you even like the band at all? In fear and faith does a lot to prove their originalitly. Their is only so much a band can do especially staying in a post-hardcore/ metalcore genre.

yea man best band ever when they covered ganstas paradise i was like sht sonn
|

Yeah I wont even take a look at this album. IFAF is prolly the most mediocre band in this genre, it's pretty intolerable to listen to them.
