Yeah, album is underrated.

Bowie definitely a needed change after Diamond Dogs, since I felt that Diamond Dogs was almost beating a dead horse... he shifted before it could happen.

Bowie the chameleon : )

I'm more fond of bowie's rock and funk sides

despite Aladdin Sane not being one of my fav Bowies, the jean genie might be my fav bowie song

Yeah 76-80 is my favorite Bowie era, though I've yet to hear anything post-Scary Monsters so maybe that could change haha

It's like his 2nd worst 70s album, but still great. It's only that low because Bowie crushed it in the 70s.

agreed this is weak compared to his other 70's albums. His songwriting is just as strong as always but the music comes across like he trying to prove that he can still be relevant even when playing his whole plastic soul genre. With the exception of the hits (title track and Fame) he doesn't really sound like he is settled into the sound; especially when you compare it to Station to Station which is imo a perfect album. Also the Across the Universe cover is unnecessary and kills straight play-throughs for me.

Don't like the Across the Universe cover, but everything else is well done here

It doesn't match his other albums, no

some of the chorus background vocals can come off as really cheesy, but thats only occasionally. "Can You Hear Me", "Fame", and "John, I'm Only Dancing (Again)" is such a great run of songs
