Glad you agree cirq... Tbh, I don't think it's up for debate... It's just that for whatever reason, she is way too unknown.

Stating the obvious, but yeah.. this is excellent.
Not a bad album cover either, *giggles shyly*.

Google 'traditional british puddings'.
Now I know what I'm going to feed my kids!... although... I kinda hate children so I might not feed them anything.
And Davey, is her debut worth getting?

Surprised it's available on vinyl tbh. Now, pictuure disc would be a different matter.

Its a great album to play in the car when you need something light. But not so light (norah jones) that you'll fall asleep at the wheel and kill yourself.

Very well said. It's got that nice balance... Yet, I don't think it's a compromise.
Again to everyone, check out her debut as well.

I'm seeing her live tomorrow (24th). Seen her live earlier this year. She really is amazing. Her voice 'live' is incredible and so powerful.
What really edges it for me is that she is a true songwriter. Not one of the current trend of 'co-writing'....
I love both albums equally. I think 'This Is The Life' is slightly more unique, but i love the slightly rockier edge of 'A Curious Thing'.
About the album cover, i never liked it. Seems odd to me! she has incredible blue eyes and a friendly face, in the album cover it doesn't come across that way. :p

I'm jealous. I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't think she has ever played live in Australia.
She definitely is a true songwriter & you can tell with her lyrics & the way she delivers them.
I guess I can see where you're coming from with the album cover (in regards to being a true representation & all) but I still like it... a lot.

And thanks, I now have that song stuck in my head... Except with the words "Let's Make a Baby" in the chorus. LOL.

And how do I know if you’re feeling the same as me?
And how do I know that that’s the only place you want to be?
And how do I know if you’re feeling the same as me?
And how do I know that that’s the only place you want to be?
And if you want it too, then there’s nothing left to do
Let's make a baby
That's the way I've been listening to it ever since the first play.

Ahhh, that makes more sense... & is better suited album cover-wise. In fact, the album cover for her debut looks like it was specifically made for a vinyl LP.

Her debut is great, she and her songs just have an inescapable charm to them. I'm saying great review as always Davey, I read it when you first posted but I didn't comment, so here's a late one. I'm going to listen to this one; Don't Tell Me That It's Over got a lot of airplay here and I'm curious to find out what she's done with the sound.
