I thought the drumming was the one thing that really stood out in this album...
edit: also, you have no idea what a blastbeat is

You said positive things in the review... Wouldn't that mean it's at least a 1.5? Or am I misunderstanding something about objectively reviewing music?...

I suppose so. They Dont Call It The South For Nothing and the clean vocals are enough for an extra .5 i guess. Also i fixed the
blastbeat thing... idk what i was thinking there. So all you terminology nazis can chill.

But we can't chill. We're Nazis.

Have i even pissed off the kinda-sorta fanboys that rated this a 2.5-4?
Damn.
The review is focused around the album, not the individual songs, and im pretty sure i spent more than two sentences on the sound. And i mentioned Carlile a few times because this is HIS band, like it or not, and because he took center stage on here with his shitty vocals that are WAYYY too prevalent in the mix, and the lyrics are about as contrived and stupid as any waking the cadaver song. in short, fuck this album.

Eh, if it's a 1.5 (which I saw you changed it to), it's a very well written review. You most def had more than 2 sentences about the sound.

Yup. Im proud of this, fuck these neggers.

How does 2.5 - 4 equal sort of fanboys? I thought the album was going to suck too, but then I
objectively (a novel concept) listened to it and realized it was pretty good even though I hate
Austin.
And I'm pretty sure that the individual songs are what makes up the album so you should probably try
to listen to them before you review the album. Sentences like " YDG kicks the album off and,
approximately ninety seconds in, the listener can safely turn this off and draw conclusions about
the album" really don't make your review seem legitimate whatsoever. Honestly did you even listen
to the second half of the album? "The Ballad of Tommy Clayton" and "John Deux Trois" are really
good and I like both of them better than "They Don't Call It the South," although it is definitley a
highlight track.
I don't know why you're proud of this. I could've written the same thing in 15 mins when I heard
the album was coming out without even listening to it. By the way, you're looking for a colon ( : )
instead of a semi colon (;) before that list.
(How the hell do you have Someday Came Suddenly at 3.5 and this at 1? Does not compute.)

Because this needed a negative review.

I just watched the old Mice & Men movie today, the scene where Lennie killed Wifey....pure comedy gold.

This is one of the better recent Rise releases

The other reviews give this wayyy to much credit. Even if the instrumentals were fantastic (they arent) Carlile's vocals and the incessant and annoying breakdowns ruin this. How can anyone enjoy this? Its not brokencyde bad, but its pretty fucking terrible. sorry if you dont agree with me, but er.... isnt that what a review is for?

And yes shortone, i did listen to this album. Numerous times, at the risk of hurting myself. As for the two tracks you listed, yeah theyre okay songs, but theyre nothing special at all, and theyre still the same contrived bullshit that the entire CD is made up of. Maybe with Jerry Roush at the head of this project they wont be so fucking terrible, because at the risk of invoking more responses like "lol he only carez bout carlyle", Carlile IS the problem with this album. His vocals ruin any semblance of flow that the album builds up in the better tracks, and by the end of this album i literally had a headache.
|
| |
I don't get it, Roush leaves a great band just to hop onto another one?

This probably sucks, but this review just isn't that informative or well-written really.
