this album just strikes the perfect balance between their glossy new sound and their old rambling lo-fi stuff.

Agreed, easily my fave MM. The instrumental parts are beautiful, the lyrics exceptional and the vocals the best of Brock's career. 3rd Planet is one of the best openers ever as well.

So hard to split, but 3rd Planet was the first MM song I heard and is still probably my favourite.

Your heart felt good it was dripping pitch and made of wood

And your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass beneath

While outside naked shivering, looking blue

From the cold sunlight that's reflected off the moon

And baby-cum-angels fly around you

Reminding you how we used to be three and not just two

And that's how the world began

And that's how the world will end

Apparently its about Isaac's missus having a miscarriage as well, makes it even more emotional.

The lyrics make so much more sense knowing that information. Apparently she left him after it happened as well, fucked up.
