I had to listen to the real "More than a Feeling" to get that horrid sound of the cover out of my mind, FUCK.

in case you missed it on the other page, All Along The Watchtower is a Bob Dylan song, not a Hendrix one

I know it's a Bob Dylan Song. I took the track list from the album's myspace (http://www.myspace.com/punkgoesclassicrock). They covered the Hendrix version, NOT the Dylan version.

I enjoy this review. It's not a masterpiece in anyway and it could use some expansion in its ideas, but it tells me exactly what I want to know about this album - the track-by-track style works for an album like this. Do I encourage it, no. Do I mind it? Not at all.

Keep reviewing. Album really sucks, would be a 1 if not for 'Dream On' or 'Free Fallin'.

you can't cover a specific cover version

the whole point of a cover is to bring something new to the song

I didn't mind the track-by-track review. I thought it was humorous and I respect your views (and share most of them). It sickens me to think that these bands actually thought they could cover these songs. Classic rock should be covered by more suitable bands

"you can't cover a specific cover version

My entire review is pretty much centered on the point that some sound EXACTLY like the original, just with a pre-pubescent kid singing. I know that you have to bring something new to a song. But, you listen to the cover of "All Along The Watchtower" you'd see that the influence behind the cover was Jimi Hendrix's rendition of the song, NOT the original Bob Dylan version.

Give it up. Please.

And my original point was that the statement "All Along The Watchtower (originally recorded by Jimi

Hendrix)" is totally incorrect, as he didn't originally record it. Thats factually wrong, not just my

opinion.

The track listing for the album, which I simply copy-pasted, has Originally Recorded by Jimi Hendrix. You have a problem with that, just go take it up with FEARLESS records. They made the album...

and I'm not saying I don't agree, Bob Dylan was the ORIGINAL recorder, but I didn't make the track listing, and I'm not changing it.

Okay, I'm listening to this now, most of this sucks, a couple of these aren't too bad... but I cringed when they tried to scream during Separate Ways.

Oh, they're trying it in Your Love too, wonderful...

Not trying to be a dick, but this review is SUSPICIOUSLY similar to a review posted a day earlier on our site:

http://kikaxemusic.com/reviews/599-punk-goes-classic-rock-review

It looks like "dnor" copied the review and just tinkered with the wording to say the same things... though not as good as the original.

Can we have the court of public opinion weigh in here?

the only review that was anywhere close to yours was the eddie money song. I'd like it to be known that I had that thought yesterday while I was listening to it for the first time with my friend. The fact that yours and mine match up is purely coincidental.

I suggest you look again. Here's a couple more examples, with quotes selected from the breakdowns...

Kik Axe Review of "Rock and Roll All Nite" - The Summer Set (Kiss)
"...Too sugar-coated, this is Disney Channel fare. Tweens will love it."

Your review:
"...Put a pair of Mickey Mouse ears on this one and play it on Disney Channel for the tweens to eat up."

Kik Axe Review of "Your Love" - I See Stars (The Outfield)
"Questionable as to whether or not it even fits the "classic rock" stamp, The Outfield's 1986 single "Your Love" makes it's second appearance in the PUNK GOES... series. Unfortunately, I See Stars' electro-tinged version fails to match the excellent version performed by MIDTOWN on 2005's PUNK GOES 80's."

Your Review:
"...Only problem I have is the fact, this song is from the LATE 80's. Not really a classic rock song...Also, it's been done better by MIDTOWN in 2005's PUNK GOES 80's."

Kik Axe Review of "We Are the Champions" - Mayday Parade (Queen)
"...Mayday Parade turns in an acceptable version that lacks the emotional intensity of the original. Listening to this gives me visions of a high school band performing this on stage at a Senior Prom... most likely in a movie as opposed to real life."

Your review:
"Welcome to the 1999 Homecoming dance...tonight, we have Mayday Parade performing on stage, remember girls and boys, have fun, dance, but DO NOT get TOO close. Good Night!" No but in all seriousness, this sounded like a high school band playing at a dance. Mayday just didn't bring enough intensity to the song."

I could go on with this...
