Wow, I really disagree. This album is a masterpiece start to finish. Only few know the true genius of this album, because it's not an easy album to listen to for the common "pop" music listener. This opportunity after the success of Oracular Spectacular allowed MGMT to create a well produced mind-bending, acid-fueled, long witted trip of an album that would scare away the listeners who only enjoyed MGMT for their 3 singles: Kids, Time to Pretend, and Electric Feel.

Oh come on this isn’t even a hard record to get into, especially compared to the next album they released.

Congrats!
also i appreciate them not following up their first with a 2.0 version but i also think this sounds like the stereotypical psych rock that would play during some 60s psychedelic festival movie ykwimsayin

I wasn't the biggest fan back when it came it out, but damn this aged well. Definitely a standout record of the era! I think some of its merits got lost in all the indie-rock noise that was the 2000s. From a 2023 perspective, this is a classic. And that flute solo on "Flash Delirium" still slaps!
