Also, I hate to be 'that guy', but getting stoned to Panopticon is one of the best musical experiences ever

it's like a sandstorm of grooves coming at you from everywhere while you're inside a frog inside a blender

Preacher man says in an alternate reality we all love TSIB and are writing exactly the opposite of what's in this thread.

But I don't go by what he says.

TSIB is too soul crushingly heavy, I'd still pick it over any Isis albums. And goddamn, do I love Isis

Oh I get it it's a GY!BE reference hahahahaha

And yea ISIS is pretty freaking rad but their music is still tangible, while Neurosis clearly comes from an alternate dimension that man is not capable of understanding

I still think those belong in diff category - TSIB is way more sludgy than Oceanic (it would be fair to compare Celestial vs TSIB though). So in my mind Oceanic is a trully post-metal record, while TSIB is an atmospheric sludge/doom record. Both are unique and one of the best those genres can afford for a patient listener.

both this and tsib are post-metal, just very different kinds of it. obviously though if someone asks you what post-metal sounds like this provides the better example imo

Maybe it is unfair to compare the two, but I'd certainly take this band over Neurosis. Their music comes from a sincere place that always makes me feel amazing.
