Surprised you don't like the new track Rowan. I think it's got a bit of a Lucky Denver Mint vibe. Late 90s pop rock with a good, summer feel. Simple but nice. The bridge is cool too, and the drumming is some of the best we've heard from JEW.

It has six lines of lyrics. And not in the good 12.23.95 way. It's like they wrote a chorus melody and went on autopilot for the rest. Get Right was way better

There's not a lot to the new song really, especially in terms of the amount of lyrics. But they nailed the vibe for me. Love the way it sounds, especially the chorus. Get Right was hardly very interesting lyrically either IMO. I feel like it's a bit of a trend lately with Jimmy Eat World where they have such short verses with barely any lyrics just so they can skip right to the chorus. I'm more excited by how big the production is. Fits in perfectly with their Clarity-Bleed-Futures run of albums.

I feel like Sure and Certain could have been on American Pie 1 and it would have felt so right. So I get real nostalgic feels from the song. That plays a lot into why I like it a lot.

I agree, though less good.

Here I think it's not more of a trend than it is a lack of inspiration/ conviction. The guys are still going strong after all these years, so can't really blame them.
