yeah, I probably would put III ahead of II, I must have misread that

I can't put Rocky IV ahead of Rocky because of the stupid robot. And I pretty much dislike all the scenes with Rocky's kid. Rocky isn't as exciting as IV, but it is flawless and without it, there wouldn't be a need for the rest. So I have to give the most respect to the original.
I could be swayed into swapping II and III though. III is where the cheese starts creeping into the series, but it's also completely awesome, a lot more exciting than II, and it has the line "You ever fought a dinosaur, kid? They can inflict a variety of damage!" which is one of the most ridiculous lines in the whole series.
"What favor?"

I > II > VI > III > IV
Don't class V as a Rocky film. II is so high because the ending is so incredibly awesome.

The great thing about III is it is low on boring parts. The opening montage where Rocky is wasting everyone while Eye of the Tiger blasts wins big time. The Mr. T scene at the Rocky statue commenoration is epic. The Thunderlips scene is fucking awesome. Really, the only shitty parts in the movie is the scene where he rides around on his motorcycle after Mick dies, and his talk on the beach with Adrian which lasts about 5 minutes.

Agreed Brokenjewel. V is atrocious.

V is astonishingly bad. Absymal. Unreedemable. Really the only cool part is where he tells Tommy "My ring's outside."

V was like a fucking betrayal. VI ended the legacy nicely - there was only me and my gf in the cinema when we went to see it and I actually stood up and shouted 'Go on, Rocky!' Haha!

Yeah VI is decent. Its a reach, definitely, but then again most Rocky movies are. I like how they bring back Spider and that chick from Rocky 1. It also wins because Adrian isn't in it.

Aha, I actually have this CD. It really is a brilliant soundtrack. And I thought Rocky beat Taxi Driver for best picture, not Raging Bull?

^ haha he's right, I just Bing'd it (yeah I say Bing, I work for Microsoft, fuck Google), and it did beat out Taxi Driver. You guys were arguing over Raging Bull vs Rocky in vain.

Rocky beat Taxi Driver???? Jesus fucking christ.

And so begins the Rocky/Taxi Driver debate....
Rocky > Taxi Driver

I haven't seen Taxi Driver in 15 years so I am staying out of it.

Yeah! And "You knocked him out, now can you knock me out?"
I think I just disliked III because while all the fights were unrealistic, Rocky III's fight was especially so because of the let-him-throw-haymakers-until-he's-too-tired-to-fight tactic. Plus didn't that one have the stupid wrestler scene?

The soundtrack is quite good, the movie is also good if you are an american, cause in the eyes of a european this film is a good propaganda.
Sly made a fantastic job at Rocky 1 which is a cult classic but he fucked it up with the sequels. Only his latest instalment can do justice to the Rocky saga.
