I'm not going to have time to do one today but I'm used to writing sans emotion, should be no problem doing a relatively objective review on this

Probably one of their more accessible records, blew my mind when I first heard it, but it hasn't held the same lasting power

Yeah. This is one of those albums that hits hard, but gets boring as shit with multiple listens.

Pretty much agree

part of that might actually come from the fact that the production is really way too focused in on Stephen's then-new 8 string

I mean sure, those low notes hit like a bag of bricks, but they don't really have a ton of depth to them. KNY I think was better since

Chino's guitarwork was a lot more prevalent

this has actually grown on me a ton. Probably 4th favorite 'tones

the contrast between the heavy riff and Chino's relaxed vocals in Risk is so great

2nd favorite for me. White Pony is an easy 1st. 3rd would probably be Koi no Yokan.

So here is my thoughts on this album conveyed in a unserious dumb tbt form. i hope people hate me for this.

1. "Diamond Eyes" - Good song, chorus sounds kinda forced tho. 3.5/5

2. "Royal" Best. 5/5

3. "CMND/CTRL" This song does nothing for me, vox are bad too. Straight filler. 2/5

4. "You've Seen the Butcher" omg this mostly just drags an goes no where. 2.5/5

5. "Beauty School" This song is almost amazing but imo it gets too weak at the end. 3/5

6. "Prince" Solid, but doesn't really do anything we haven't heard before. 3.5/5

7. "Rocket Skates" What a nasty riff to start with. Too bad the song slows down and Chino comes in with the most flat vox, killing the momentum. The chorus tries to bring the rage but has some cringe worthy lyrics. 2.5/5

8. "Sextape" Wow this is great until Chino comes in with a annoying chorus and says "tonight" in a song for 1000th time. 3/5

9. "Risk" Good song 4/5

10. "976–EVIL" Great song 4.5/5

11. "This Place Is Death" just ZZzzZZ 2/5

Production is weak too and bass isn't as good as past releases but still a 3/5 album.

Record is solid but the t/t, Royal, Butcher, Beauty School and Sextape make the album.

I hope they ditch Nick Raskulinecz on the next record, I've never been a huge fan of his production style
