GhandiLion oh yes, because "derivative" automatically means "cannot be anything else other than run-of-the-mill, even if the genre is highly conceptual and open to interpretation". Truly, your(restrained) musical comprehension is outstanding. No, really. Isn't Radiohead supposed to be experimental anyways? So why are they stuck in pseudo-experimental on this album?

On the previous version of my soundoff, you also completely ignored the part where I said Kid A is better than this album, due to it being far more innovative, which surprises me honestly, since you should have noticed it after scurrying through my profile page.

Yes I noticed you praised Kid A for it's innovation, that's how I know that one of your problems with this is it's lack of innovation.

"GhandiLion oh yes, because "derivative" automatically means "cannot be anything else other than run-of-the-mill"

This is true. These terms do not mean the same thing. But usually when people use the word derivative to criticise something, what they actually mean is that they think the music doesn't have any identity at all. All music is derivative so using the term for any other reason is redundant.

Yes, the highly conceptual nature of Vapourwave is framing the shallowness of capitalism, consumerism etc. It's basically ironic Muzak.

GhandiLion ah, the classic misunderstanding of vaporwave. Good job, you failed yet again. First of all, while vaporwave does simultaneously embrace and criticize consumerism stuff, and is based on distant nostalgia of the past(the vapourey side of it), it is also based on a concept called plunderphonics(which is part of the experimental side of vaporwave), which vaporwave applies in another concept involving the Internet age. This is where the cyberpunk influence comes in. Vaporwave usually attempts to not just create a mood, but an image, a narrative, which is why the a e s t h e t i c s are so integral to the genre. Additionally, vaporwave plays on things like hypnagogic or trance-like feelings. And so on, the interpretations and conceptual intricacies of the genre are endless, which is why it hooked me so much.

Adam Neely is way better at analysing the music theory of vaporwave, but it certainly is more multi-faceted than you think(On top of this, guys like Telepath or the project 2814 should be considered as ambient rather than trve vaporwave).

Its not one of those though...its the truth. So TKS again, I guess...its a challenge to work with it.

It helps to get they were an alt-rock band before becoming this super nerdy experimental weirdos which I came to love. It's ok you don't dig but they were an highly influential alt-rock band, both with this and The Bends...as much as in their experimental phase to date...experimental, therefore more original/ innovative as you please...

Its ok you don't dig guitars X)

@DDDeftoneDDD I just hate boring acoustic guitar use in rock. If someone finds a way to make them sound interesting, I'll be happy. But, uh, you're welcome.
