I mean I can tell you but you won’t like it. For one it reminds me of being 12-13 and growing up in an ultra conservative Christian household of 7 and blasting this shit and pissing off all my family members. It reminds me of rebellion and rage and fun and pushing people’s buttons. Or to put it simply as a wise man once said “maybe because it’s a punk album.” Or perhaps I’m just a hipster

Alright, alright, I guess it really is a punk album. Thanks.

The absolute lies about the Sex Pistols that get propagated and bought into are absurd. If anyone says "they were a manufactured boy band" you know they're an idiot who doesn't know anything about music. They changed the world of music forever. I love the Ramones, they're maybe my favourite band, but this here was the real game changer.
Brought here by Rotten taking the piss out of Marky. Rotten was acting like a buffoon but he knew what he was doing.

This gestated at a time where people were crying out for a change but didn’t know exactly how to voice it.
The band stepped up and offered a real alternative. You don’t manufacture what you are born to channel.
It’s why 99% of ‘punk’ now is absolute dross, it has absolutely fuck all anchoring it to a voice of discontent other than copying musically what has come before and it’s all played by clueless brat straights.

I think your the idiot, read a fucking book, even in the circles then they were laughed at

You're*
Read what book? Maybe source what you're talking about. They weren't being laughed at when everyone who saw them live were being inspired to start their own band.

not the case, one book to read is London's Burning: on the front lines of the first wave of british punk or something similar, great book, they were not even close to the first punk band, most of the band is from other broken up punk bands, and were made fun of because of how terrible they were. It poses that Rotten was just a poser looking for attention, were put together to market the clothes store their manager owned. a few other books that escape me right now. please investigate.

Funny, the title of the book seems to invoke a certain title of The Clash album so let's see what The Clash say about the Pistols.
Jones saw the Sex Pistols perform for the first time: "You knew straight away that was it, and this was what it was going to be like from now on. It was a new scene, new values—so different from what had happened before. A bit dangerous."
Joe Strummer: "I knew something was up, so I went out in the crowd which was fairly sparse. And I saw the future—with a snotty handkerchief—right in front of me. It was immediately clear. Pub rock was, "Hello, you bunch of drunks, I'm gonna play these boogies and I hope you like them." The Pistols came out that Tuesday evening and their attitude was, "Here's our tunes, and we couldn't give a flying fuck whether you like them or not. In fact, we're gonna play them even if you fucking hate them."
You. Don't. Know. Shit.

Christgau or Simon Reynolds (reputable sources, not whatever trash book you brought up) would never trash the Sex Pistols in this new ridiculous yet fashionable way.

The pistols actually defined ‘punk’ in terms of all the absolute bullshit that followed. It could be argued that the pistols were the first and last proper ‘punk’ band.
|
| |
We're not arguing about first, that's irrelevant, we're talking about influence. Sex Pistols were huge and game-changing compared to anyone at the time. It's a historical fact.
