i don't think that other major punk bands at the time (ie. the clash, stiff little fingers, the damned) relied on that nearly as much as the pistols

I toally agree, but let's be honest, The Sex Pistols will go down as THE punk band of the time period, whereas those such as The Clash won't, because they didn't play up the whole punk mentality

You're correct.Infamy is very powerful,especially if it's about Sid Vicious.Too bad their music wasn't

as good as the other punk bands, but still, they're enjoyable.

Hence my 4 rating.

Nevermind by Nirvana gets a lot of mixed opinions as well. Some think Kurt is a legend, while others think that he was very arrogant and that his music's trash.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Nirvana and think their cultural impact and legacy isn't proportionate to what they actually made, same with The Sex Pistols

And that is fair enough dude but ignoring the impact Nirvana had and looking at their legacy simply through the product of their albums is looking at it all in a superficial manner.

Much like the Pistols 'were all about the look' frame of mind.

A look doesn't create God Save The Queen. This album is a representation of the anger felt by many that has resonated for nearly 40yrs and it still packs a punch.

Technical proficiency is the be all and end all for some but if it's not conveying any value either through message or a resonating nerve being hit, again it's superficial, a round of applause for talent but ultimately souless and redundant as there's nothing to connect to.
