"This is really, reallllllly good. I'd prolly 5 this if it wasn't for that god-awful Wayakin track. Fuck that song pisses me off."

sure it does.but imo we'lll get used to that after a few listens

you can tell even he himself is embarrased over that rating, as usually when he thinks something sucks, he says so haha

i really enjoy the amount of vocal variation on this... literally every song seems to have a different vocal approach and nearly all of them work quite well... often times the vocals are what make the songs so memorable and fresh feeling from one another

Yeah i'm pretty sure every member of the band contributes to the vocals. The black metal rasps are chilling; they're almost painful to listen to. Sounds like he's ripping his throat out. In a good way.

yeah i think i'd have to say that their black metal vocals are my fav.. they are so awesome on captivating solitude and especially on det rakner (which is probably my fav song by them).. actually on captivating solitude they kinda sound like a more demonic version of agalloch to me.. probably because they like to overlay them on top of subtle deeper growls... haha i could probably go on and on about how awesome the vocals are.. kinda ironic actually because shrouded divine has one of my fav vocal performances ever and their new one is getting mixed reception... still gotta listen to that (ive just been distracted with this)

The new In Mourning is excellent, but with all due respect to it this is way better.

i'm sure ill enjoy it because i really love their sound so as long as it's not too different from the debut it will def still be appealing... also i think my only major problem with mantra is that it really needs a song like det rakner... everything on here is awesome but i don't think any of the songs are quite as powerful or exciting as det rakner.. that song just really gets the blood pumping and a song like that would make this album more satisfying i think

There's nothing as exhilarating as Det Rakner or As I Wither, I can admit that. But I think Dark Prophets and Sombre Fall are better songs.

I ranked these guys' songs yesterday, check out my list.

Bodom, I think you like this band more than metalstyles hahahaha. If you could fill a bottle up with semen and mail it to a band, it would go to these guys hahahahahaha.

it's a pretty damn good list.. i mostly agree with it.. personally i would probably put october's monody higher up... absolutely love that song because of the awesome clean section and the outro. and yeah i love sombre fall and i really like dark prophets too but i don't think i like it as much as you do.. idk it just doesn't hit me as hard as some of their other songs.. at this point though i would still def consider det rakner my favorite song by them (granted i just got the latter rain the day that mantra was released so i haven't listened to either of them enough to really make final decisions).. oh and also i'm surprised you put Sorgenfri so low.. how come? i really enjoy that song, i think it has an awesome vibe and ends the cd on a high note personally

Turned out to be a great listen, though the first track is still my favorite. Sombre Fall is an excellent track too, though I thought the "heavier" part it went into was kind of unnecessary. Picked up later though.

Also, is it just me, or does it sound like part of this album has electronic drums? Or like the drum production kind of varies between organic and electronic (I noticed this particularly with the snare?)

ha ha, I knew I'd eventually be found out. I just couldn't get into it. Most of the clean vocals were pretty terrible, and the music kept going from really good to extremely boring. I've listened to it about three or four times and just can't get into it. I finally just deleted it this morning.

well obviously, because I'd send one bottle to In Flames and other to Crossbreed. Will probably put a stamp on them both: "with love from Estonia". Still, this is perfect, I'm just damn tired of hyping stuff. I tried to hype Crossbreed, Butcher Jones, Malefice, No-Big-Silence and other bands when they released something new, but evetually, I always got like only 2-3 people to check them out, so I guess I'm just tired of hyping stuff. It turns out to be a rather unrewarding thing to do haha.
