I think I only listened to it once, liked it, and never listened again

I mean I've probably heard it at least 20 times but I wouldn't have listened to it that much if it weren't a Wilco album.
Hearing them play it through live was even better though, which speaks to the quality of the songs.

The only things I can remember about the last one are the name, the cat and the fact it was a free download. It wasn't terrible but I thought the songwriting was quite bland

Jamming this to get hyped for Schmilco. I know it's blasphemy but I think this might actually be my favorite Wilco album (though YHF is technically "better").
I haven't heard the live album (though I have a recording of the show I saw them at lol), I should get on that.

"well it's by the same band, they're called Wilco."
What are you even trying to say here? Bands can make 2 entirely different albums, even back to back

This one is more pop-oriented (in a sort of Beatlesque kind of way, you could call parts of it power pop, psych pop, chamber pop, or just pop rock) and there's a bit more Americana influence here but quite a few of the songs still have the interesting sonic touches you have on YHF.

haha, I mean I do have it 5d :-P
There's nothing quite as sonically "different" as I am Trying To Break Your Heart or Poor Places for example but this is still pretty damn amazing.
Admittedly it's not a terribly "happy" album per se in its lyrical content but it gives me a great sense of euphoria for some reason.

I don't mind if it's happy or not, as long as it isn't like... idk the word

well if you dug yhf you're likely to dig this too although this is a lot less cohesive and a lot brighter in overall tone

I'll be sure to check this out whenever I feel the need for more Wilco
Been loving YHF the last few days

In my experience most people who dig YHF rate this within + or - 0.5 of their rating of that, take that as you will.
Though here comes Art to be the exception that proves the rule.

My only real issue with this album is the last two tracks after the short track of silence, clearly the album is supposed to end with In a Future Age, so Candyfloss and the A Shot in the Arm remix function as bonus tracks, but I'm pretty sure in every version of the album they are packaged as regular tracks, even though they were originally unlisted. Candyfloss is an excellent song in its own right, though the remix is kind of pointless. I usually just listen the whole way through anyways but make a mental note that the album "really" ends with In a Future Age.
