I was into jazz in high school and then REALLY into it in college because I DJ'd jazz on vinyl for quite a few hours a week--and my college's radio station is a well-listened one that mostly plays jazz for old men. Big fan big fan. I think this is the only avant jazz I've reviewed, but I also have pieces on Monk, Bird, Miles, Freddie Hubbard, Clifford Jordan/John Gilmore

one fun thing to keep in mind is that there's some controversy around the dedications for side a, with the printed tracklist differing from braxton's own notes



maybe an issue with my imagination, but track 2 doesn't seem very cagean... so i've wondered if that's the real cecil taylor
