lol. if we're speaking technically emo is just a subgenre of post-hardcore punk music. post-hardcore is just a lazy term for stuff that's rooted in hardcore but not squarely inside of it.

Modern poppier post-hardcore should be separated from the 80s/90s post-hardcore, because they sound nothing alike. Thats my only real beef with the tag. Other than that its a decently good description of a bands sound if you separate the 2 eras.

waves of post-hardcore, yeah I can dig that, and it does make sense in a lot of situations. I just thought it was weird that someone said "oh that album is post-hardcore whereas this one is screamo" it's like...no?

i dunno mannnnn new one goes preeeeeeeeety damn hard indeed, but like, it does so softly and with elegance if you can dig it

i feel like this one is slightly less 'finished,' i guess, but the performances on it are much more dynamic. with the exception of the closer the pacing is pretty much perfect and the standouts are incredible.

i also feel like this one has filial.

I feel like that album also has Such Confidence.

i feel like i'll get by and such confidence are good examples of what was disappointing about the lack long after.
