as long as you can get into the vox, I see no reason why you wouldn't like their newest one. it's just as screamo/post-rock or whatever as this is, and better in my opinion.

I just don't think "post-hardcore" is a very strong genre identifier when we are already talking about a band that makes hardcore punk

lol. if we're speaking technically emo is just a subgenre of post-hardcore punk music. post-hardcore is just a lazy term for stuff that's rooted in hardcore but not squarely inside of it.

" if we're speaking technically emo is just a subgenre of post-hardcore punk music."

but see I disagree with that and it isn't a "technical" fact or something. it would be correct to say that screamo is a subgenre of hardcore punk, but that's it.

this is why I don't like "post-hardcore" being considered an actual genre cause it really isn't

that's what i was just saying. post- means after. post-hardcore means punk that is after hardcore.

Modern poppier post-hardcore should be separated from the 80s/90s post-hardcore, because they sound nothing alike. Thats my only real beef with the tag. Other than that its a decently good description of a bands sound if you separate the 2 eras.

waves of post-hardcore, yeah I can dig that, and it does make sense in a lot of situations. I just thought it was weird that someone said "oh that album is post-hardcore whereas this one is screamo" it's like...no?

i feel like this one is slightly less 'finished,' i guess, but the performances on it are much more dynamic. with the exception of the closer the pacing is pretty much perfect and the standouts are incredible.

i also feel like this one has filial.

yes but don't you also feel that The Lack Long After has I'll Get By?

I feel like that album also has Such Confidence.

i feel like i'll get by and such confidence are good examples of what was disappointing about the lack long after.

i also feel like potato is right.
