I prefer Smother. This is fantastic, don't get me wrong but Smother is way ahead of it.

I guess this is just more immediate. Smother was one of the toughest growths I've ever had. I still like it, but almost just because of forced repeat listens because I was convinced it would grow. It did, just took awhile and didn't grow as much as I thought it would.

I'd consider all of their albums growers but yeah, thatoneguy726; I agree with you exactly; Smother was one of the most awkward albums to listen to at first; and I even liked the vocals going in.

My question is; favourite album based on lyrics?

I found this the easiest to get into too but that's not saying much. =P

Favourite lyric for me comes from Hooting and Howling.

'I was as thrilled as I was appalled, courting him in fisticuffing waltz'

Suddenly clicked just barely. Was exactly what I wanted to hear at the moment.

After the uneven & polarizing debut LP 'Limbo, Panto', idiosyncratic English quartet Wild Beasts return in comparitively refined fashion on 'Two Dancers'. Hayden Thorpe's falsetto & the eccentrically literate lyrics will still divide listeners, but both have been pared down in favor of something a little more restrained. The use of 2 vocalists helps, while the dark & seductive nature of the intricately detailed music makes Wild Beasts a genuinely unique band. The highlights here are really good, it's just a shame that 3 of the 10 tracks are practically interludes. Recommended Tracks: We Still Got the Taste Dancin' on Our Tongues, All the King's Men & This Is Our Lot.

i knew some songs by this band but never really gave them a thorough listen. now i'm just.. bewildered? quite possibly this might grow to be a classic for me, it's fringes the theatrically perfect. i'm in awe by songs like "underbelly", "two dancers" and "all the king's men". their depiction of scenarios and situations through written word is incredibly mature. really i'm blown (or maybe it is the wine but still!!)

I seriously thought that This is Our Lot said "Waiting the the panty drop" the first couple of times I heard it.

band announced they're calling it a day on Facebook, pretty gutting but they're leaving a discography that was pretty much a gateway for me into finding and carving my own taste

That's a bit gutting agreed, be interesting to see what each of the singers chooses to do next though.
