Usually, when I'm talking about songwriting, I'm referring to elements like album flow, album cohesion, use of openers and closers, etc. Basically, how well a band conceives an album as a whole. That's how I view songwriting anyway. Lyrics are something completely separate from songwriting for me, although they can compliment it for sure.
