This is easily my favorite Shadows Fall album. The vocals are much better than on any past SF album. That doesn't mean it rates anything more than a high "3", but it's still their best.

yeah actually i agree that the vocals have improved. That doesn't mean that Brian Fair shouldn't quit though.

He can't be blamed for the state of their music. A better vocalist would get bored and quit.

but the music isn't bad at all, it could be more inventive at times, but in geenral it is rather decent. Fair's vocals are just rather bad for the ears.

I dig this one more than Fallout from the War and Threads of Life, but I feel like it's one step behind War Within and about 3 steps behind Art of Balance.

It is suprisingly catchy. Not a bad song on here. I was expecting this to fail completely and it was great.
A Public Execution is so awesome.

The "Still I Rise", "War", "King Of Nothing" and "The Taste Of Fear" quadruple of songs works so well together. Also "A Public Execution"and "Dead and Gone" make for a fitting and well-working final duo of songs. What's best, this album doesn't really have any bad tracks. There are better ones and not that impressive ones, but none of the songs completely disappoint.

Yeah I agree completely. And "War" is just a killer track.

See what I mean? Even the weak tracks aren't all that bad. I've listened to "A Public Execution" at least once every day ever since getting this album and it hasn't worn off.

If Brian Fair didn't suck so much and if the instrumentals were any different from any of their other albums then maybe this album wouldn't suck.

This album doesnt suck. I enjoy Brian's vocals though. He's got a cool scream and he's not bad at cleans. This album easily pwns Threads of Life.

Brian Fair's vocals have not been good on an album since The Art of Balance. Except for Overcast. The new Overcast album is awesome.

Overcast's album is pretty sick, and this is growing on me. It's still nowhere near Art of Balance, but since War Within did not age well this might be creeping up to that level.

actually, imho, this is rather on par with The Art Of Balance. Pretty similar album to be honest.

The Art of Balance is more consistent with stronger tracks. This is essentially a bridge between Threads of Life and The War Within both in style and quality overall (this album's stronger tracks are better than the best on The War Within but the weaker tracks on TWW are more listenable/enjoyable than the weak ones here). I made a list of my personal ranking for the band's current discography.
