"yeah any rainbow album would be tbetter if Paice, Lord and Glover were onboard "

Considering that Rainbow went shit when Glover joined... I'm not so sure

Having a full of stars line-up doesn't make an album good

Legends can play shit too

I don't care how good "Breakfast In Bed" is, I can't take a song with that title seriously in any genre.

Have to mix the right elements to have good chemistry.

Yeah, having a dream team band is no guarantee. But its better than having a half baked rythmin section.

You can see Yes' Fragile in the crystal ball because this album is heavily influenced by that album

I've tried to listen to this album many times, but I can't get into it. It's terrible.

@rockadoodle if you don't like Fortune Teller maybe you just not into the style Blackmore created after '74

This gets too much heat because of JLT's participation and how he fits with Deep Purple I think. But if you just jam it with an open mind, it's quite enjoyable.

Lord's organ on The Cut Runs Deep is sweet

Manosg, I think that goes for many albums, taking the context out of it and just listening to it lets you hear the music, without prejudging or holding it up to anything else, just that album

Absolutely and having said the above, I am guilty of not being able to remove the context numerous times.

I am terrible for that, sometimes albums need context though, to improve the experience, but later releases from great bands, sometimes cannot be judges fairly

what context is there, Dio and the best backing band in the universe, they get wasted behind him, he does not allow them to be Sabbath the band should be called DIo, and hire other people to play in the band

I don't think they wanted to be first six albums-Sabbath though. Even Iommi has said that Dio's range and approach helped him open new doors in terms of writing music.

I disagree, I AM THE MASTER OF REALITY, but

I know this is another of our disagreements Titan, but besides the fact that I am not a lover of Dio's voice, although I respect him, I think they turned from a melting pot of cool genres, to just a basic hard rock band with DIO, i think the DIo years are good albums that are pretty boring and not even a close to the genius of the first 6, although I'll give H&H credit for being better than 7&8 which really isnt that hard to do though

For me, H&H and Mob Rules to a slightly lesser degree are both Sabbath's incredible take on NWOBHM. Yes, they are more basic - if you will - heavy metal compared with the earlier stuff but still it's far from generic to my ears. Maybe you're not too big on NWOBHM generally, wham?
