the production on the second is the only let down... i like album super produced and not so raw but i dont know if you agree...
I don't like too crisp production, but not too muddy either. I like when the production brings out the guitars and the bass, yet feels natural. Dark and deep production is cool too if done right.

The production depends on the band. For example, super clean production is great for bands like Anchor and Braille because it catches every aspect of the guitar and piano etc, however really gritty nasty production makes things sound more vicious like Coldworld. Not to mention, due to Panopticon's horrible production, you can never hear the bass but I can feel it rumbling when I run it through my speakers. It's sick.
