Not sure.
The guitar being constant open chord machine gunning was another turn off for me, I wish it had a little more variation if it did this could've been awesome I can get over vocals easy but the combo just killed it for me. I might give this another spin sometime soon though...

Yeah, but I guess after Dino got lauded for (at the time) innovating guitaring in FF back in the day (and it was innovative) guess he just decided if it ain't broke don't fix it.
He has spiced it up a bit, but I won't be expecting an all acoustic album by the big man anytime soon

I'm not saying it has to be innovative, lol I listen to brutal death which a lot of the time is just non-stop pitriffment (yeah I just made up a word) Just possibly a little more technicality here and there, I love Fear Factory, but with this it is like, ok I get it you can play fast, lets try something else...

I guess they're just playing what they love. If they stepped too far away from their sound they're only gonna get savaged by every man and his dog.
I for one and happy with the nice balance they have going on in their music.
I'm not attempting an argument, just enjoy good banter with someone who knows what they're talking about.
But I am calling you out on that word though haha

Facebreaker was awesome, but this album is generally worse than the previous one. And songs like Redefine and Darkness Embedded are inglorious examples of americanized mall-melodicity, blah!
|
| |
facebreaker is insane.
|
| |
Facebreaker is really the only interesting track on here. Fuck and to think I use to love this album, but its soooo...boring.
|
| |
Redefine? Do they do an Incubus cover?...........................joking.

Facebreaker and Anarchaos are the only two songs I still spin occasionally. Rest is throwaway.
Monolithic Doomsday Devices works great as a wake-up tune though, but as a song, that's also just another average track.

this band is so hevy

Album would have been better off, if the vocalist screamed not so much, and the drummer blasted a little less. But what can you do. Darkness Embedded I don't consider a great tune, but its definitely not throw-away styles.

Take off Facebreaker and Anarchaos and this is all throw-away (and yes, that includes Darkness Embedded)

I still enjoy this album on occasion, but its not as good as I thought it was when I first listened to it. Bleed the Fifth was better.
|
| |
No, just no. Bleed the Fifth is horrible garbage. This is a vast improvement, mainly because of the vocals, while everything else seems the same imo. I'll agree to disagree on that.

Bumped this to a 4. It might be because I'm in the mood for this kind of music today (I've listened to Hatebreed, Slipknot, Disturbed and now this... intentionally).

Darkness Embedded is like one of the most embarrassing moments in Dino's entire fucking career.

The vocals are a Love/Hate thing for me with this album. The harsher vocals are excellent, and really give off an aggressive aspect to the sound, whereas the cleaner vocals sound really weak against the brutal guitar work. Nevertheless, this is still a similar album to their debut, but it succeeds in using melody and creativity to its fullest extent, and consequently sounds very accessible. It is repetitive, and for that I don't really see myself listening to this again.

Their drummer is fast.
