Haven't heard this but I'm curious to try it - I love the later two Hop Along albums but am not a huuuge fan of Get Disowned.

Honestly, think you’d at the very least find a lot to appreciate. Really idiosyncratic and rough around the edges, but it’s basically an extended dorm room demo, and Frances’ personality absolutely fills up every corner of the thing.

there's a young, playful spirit to this... personally, i still prefer the more subtle and nuanced ByHO,D sound and song-writing. Maybe it's the years catching up to me? i dunno lol.

but they (her?) don't have a single bad album, that's fs.

Ok so I’ve been spinning this on and off for a couple weeks, mostly in the background, enjoying it but having a hard time connecting to it, but I just took this for a walk on a gorgeous autumn afternoon and it clicked HARD. This might be my favorite Quinlan release, the songwriting and lyricism is amazingly emotive and raw, the youthful unpredictability lends it an amazing sense of authenticity, and the instrumentation is minimal but exactly what the compositions need, the guitars providing a wonderful rhythmic foundation to push the songs forward and the more subtle additions (lots of unusual instruments that I can’t name) always seeming to come at the perfect moment, and the occasional vocal layering always adding depth and energy as well.
