How anyone could consider this a step down from Sad Wings baffles me.

I'm starting to accept this as the best Priest tbh

"I can't get over Call for the Priest, the "with youuu by my siiiide" bit sounds like power metal to chill out to at the seaside. I feel like I never realized how Here Come the Tears is actually an album highlight (their most apocalyptic song?). Also the middle part of Raw Deal is like... 70s Korn hahah" [666]

The best songs in here (Raw Deal, Diamonds, Sinner and Dissident) are top tier JP material. As good as the best songs in Sad Wings or Stained Class

But the rest of the songs, while cool, make of this a rather inconsistent album when compared to those two

tfw you didn't include my favorite song (Let Us Prey / Call for the Priest)

Here Come the Tears is also mega underrated I think. Used to not fully care for it but the "doomy" soloing-filled nature grew on me a lot, especially the final minutes. Phillips gets more intense as the song goes on

The only real claim against this album being consistently great is Last Rose of Summer but that song's pretty chill regardless. I hardly see people call Sad Wings flawed for having Epitaph.

Its less ambitious, but the quality is definitely still here.

I mean, it's good but that's kind of my point. It's hardly a point against Sin After Sin.

" Its less ambitious, but the quality is definitely still here."

I'd say it's even moreso.

Last Rose is my least fav too but when Phillips (it's always him hahaha) starts quietly keeping the time with an open cymbal (I think?) in the final part of the song it's so smooth
